We had to say good-bye to an old friend over the weekend. The tree that stood outside our building had to come down as it had become hallow and posed a safety concern. The tree had been a fixture on our middle school campus, the junior/senior high school before that, and the K-12 building before that, standing watch out front longer than anyone can remember. The tree has provided shade and shelter for thousands of students, parents, community members and guests who have pass though, or by our building over the decades. We will miss our old friend which served as more than a landmark in our community.
